The former Celtic has found a home in Cleveland.

After two seasons on two-way contracts, Tacko Fall will no longer call Boston home. Per The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the 7’5” center is signing a one-year, non-guaranteed contract with hte Cleveland Cavaliers for the 2021-2022 season.

League rules do not allow players to sign more than two two-way contracts with a team, so it was unlikely that Tacko would return to the Celtics this fall, but not for a lack of improvement. After signing an Exhibit 10 contract with Boston after going undrafted in 2019 out of the Universitry of Central Florida, the big man impressed in Summer League enough to earn him a two-way deal.

With the Maine Celtics, Fall added to his game and became a reliable rim protector and vertical threat around the rim. Through twenty-nine games in the G-League, he averaged nearly 13 points, 11 rebounds, and three blocks per game. Maine did not participate in last year’s bubble season, so Fall did not see much time on the floor in 2021.

In Cleveland, he will join a crowded front court depth chart that includes the recently re-signed Jarrett Allen, #3 pick Evan Mobley, veteran Kevin Love, and the signed-and-traded for Lauri Markkanen. While his deal is non-guaranteed, there’s no doubt that he’ll immediately become a fan favorite at Rocket Mortage Fieldhouse. The 25-year-old’s game may never reach the levels of his stature, but his magnetic personality and good cheer will always fill the room.
