Stephen A. Smith Predicts Historic NBA Moment Could Be Coming

May 30, 2023 by The Spun

We could be on the verge of an historic achievement in the NBA depending on how the Eastern Conference Finals play out this weekend. At least, that’s what ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith believes.

On Friday’s edition of First Take, Stephen A. predicted that the Miami Heat will win Game 6 against the Boston Celtics and advance to the NBA Finals. But he couched that prediction by asserting that if the Heat don’t win Game 6 and allow the Celtics to even up the series, the Celtics will win Game 7 and become the first team in NBA history to win a series after going down 3-0.

“I predict that Miami is going to win that game [on Saturday], because if they don’t, I believe the Boston Celtics are going to be the first team in NBA history to come back from an 0-3 deficit and win the series,” Stephen A. said.

Clearly Stephen A. is hedging his bets here. But after what we’ve seen from Boston over the last two games – and indeed, most of the series – it seems feasible.

The Celtics weren’t exactly blown out in the first two games of the series. While they did lay an egg in Game 3, they’ve been the more dominant team over the past two games.

Will the Celtics make history and overcome a 3-0 deficit, or will the Heat finish them off in Game 6?
