Celtics star Jaylen Brown recently suffered a freak injury.

Before Boston’s game against Toronto on Friday night, Brown told reporters that he cut a finger on his shooting hand while picking up a glass vase that broke while he was watering his plants on Thursday.

The Celtics All-Star had to get five stitches and will miss the teams remaining regular-season games. He said he’ll be ready for the start of the postseason.

The sports world took to Twitter to react to this unfortunate incident.

“This is gonna be the Celtics excuse just watch,” one fan wrote.

“Wonder what the real story is on this. Cutting your hand watering plants is one of those lies an org tells when they don’t want you to know the truth,” another added.

“This seems slightly suspect to me but what do I know,” another said.

The Celtics are the second seed in the Eastern Conference and will take on the Atlanta Hawks in their final regular-season game on Sunday.

Brown is averaging a career-high 26.6 points, 6.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game in his seventh season with the Celtics.
