Ranking the Celtics’ competition in the East next season: No. 3 – New York Knicks

August 1, 2024 by Celtics Wire

The Boston Celtics are set for another deep postseason run next year and will begin the 2024-25 campaign as the favorites to win it all. They will of course need to first get through the Eastern Conference in order to achieve that goal.

The East got better this summer, especially as some of last season’s best clubs in the conference made major upgrades. Boston still looks to be a cut above the rest, but the competition will be fierce, and a few teams in particular will be blue chip contenders. We’ve been ranking the organizations in the East by the risk they pose to the Celtics over the last few weeks. And with only three teams remaining, these are likely the groups that will challenge Boston the most next year and into the playoffs. While the New York Knicks are better than most after an exciting offseason, there are questions the Knicks need to answer.

Let’s take a look at why New York is the No. 3 team on our list.
