If you’re going to talk the talk, you have to walk the walk.
Grant Williams learned that lesson the hard way on Monday night. The Boston Celtics forward had a prime chance to win the game for his team in regulation but he squandered it.
Williams went to the free throw line with 0.8 seconds remaining and the score tied at 109. If he knocked down only one of two free throw attempts, Boston would have pulled off a win over the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Instead, Williams missed both, after he told Cavs star Donovan Mitchell he’d “make both” in a moment of bravado.
Williams’ failure in the clutch has elicited plenty of reaction on Twitter.
“Make him walk back to Boston,” one fan said.
“He thought he was THAT GUY,’ another person added.
“Come on lol,” chimed in a third.
“This sport will never not be entertaining,” contributed a fourth.
Williams’ misses may wind up costing Boston the game. They currently trail Cleveland by four with one minute remaining in OT.
