Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla knows that winning a title is far and away the top priority for his club. This current core has flirted with contention for years but has yet to grab a coveted 18th banner for the franchise, most recently coming up short in the 2023 Eastern Conference finals with Mazzulla at the helm.
Here in the 2024 playoffs, Mazzulla’s crew is once again in the mix for a title. They are favored to make another trip to to the conference finals once again following a historic regular season campaign. After the team’s Game 1 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers in the second round, a 25-point home victory, Mazzulla was asked about how each player on the team is working to prioritize winning and keep a shared goal in mind. Mazzulla said he understood that there are plenty of individual accolades NBA players can work toward that may otherwise become a distraction.
“Every team is different,” Mazzulla explained. “Timing has a lot to do with that.”
