Marcus Smart Clears Up Rumor About His Relationship With Jaylen Brown

After watching his Boston Celtics tenure end, Marcus Smart reflected on his relationship with longtime teammate Jaylen Brown.

Per CLNS Media’s Josue Pavón, Smart declared that there’s no animosity between him and Brown.

“Jayson [Tatum] and Jaylen are my brothers for life, and I don’t think what people see is enough of what our relationship really is,” Smart said. “We’ve been through a lot together. I just wanna shut all rumors down now.”

Smart added that Brown flew to Dallas to attend his mother’s funeral.

Smart added:
“My mom passed away, JB was actually one of the people on that plane that came to Dallas to the funeral. So, I just wanted to shut all rumors down now”

Some fans noted that Brown didn’t post a farewell on social media like Tatum. However, Smart said Brown reached out directly after the Celtics traded him to the Memphis Grizzlies.

“Me and J.B., we’re great. That’s my brother. He actually texted me and was just as disappointed as I was,” Smart told CLNS. “So we’re good and just because J.B. or any of my teammates didn’t post anything, doesn’t mean we have beef.”

Their relationship might not have always been smooth sailing. Three years ago, Smart and Brown reportedly got into a tense locker-room confrontation following an Eastern Conference Finals loss.

However, Brown expressed fondness for Smart before the trade. Earlier this year, Brown told Shams Charania that he and Smart have “a brother-like relationship.”

“Me and him have bumped heads millions of times,” Brown said. “We’ve put each other in headlocks, arm wrestled to almost fist-fighting, all types of stuff. But all out of love.”
