Malcolm Brogdon on Celtics teammate Jaylen Brown’s All-NBA case

March 27, 2023 by Celtics Wire

NBA players may not have a vote for All-NBA teams, but if veteran Boston Celtics point guard Malcolm Brogdon had one, we’re pretty sure he’d have one cast for teammate Jaylen Brown. “He’ll be All-NBA,” predicted Brogdon via CLNS Media after the Celtics’ blowout win over the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday. “He’ll make one of the teams this year.”

“His game really speaks for himself,” he continued. “When (Jayson Tatum) is out, he’s the No. 1 option, and he’s showing that he can be that. So, he’s put in the work, he’s evolved since we came into the league together, he’s evolved, taking giant steps forward every year.”

“He’s playing at an extremely high level,” suggested the Virginia alum.

Brown will be eligible for the so-called “supermax” deals that would let him be extended immediately for as much as 35% of the salary cap if he makes any of the three All-NBA teams — and likely has a better shot at making it as a forward. Players are counted as the position they receive the most votes as for All-NBA media voting.

That would go a long way toward clarifying the concerns which have surfaced in the wake of a pair of recent articles about Brown that the Georgia native expressed concerns about his adoptive home city of Boston and his future in it with the Celtics.
