The Boston Celtics made history on Monday night.
They won an NBA record 18th NBA title, their first since 2008 after beating the Dallas Mavericks in five games.
The Celtics now have more NBA titles than any other franchise and that has former Los Angeles Laker Magic Johnson upset.
“I hate that the Celtics officially have more championships than us now,” Johnson tweeted.
Before the Celtics won this title, they were tied with the Lakers for the most championships with 17. The Lakers will now have to catch up again since they trail their biggest rival by one.
This was a dominant title run by the Celtics as they blew past everyone in their path. Both Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown were on another level and the latter even took home MVP of the NBA Finals.
This title was a long time coming for the Celtics since it had been almost 20 years since they last won one. They were a contender for a good chunk of those seasons but weren’t able to get over the hump until now.
They’ll now set their eyes on trying to repeat when the 2024-25 season starts in October.
