Boston Celtics center Kristaps Porzingis scoffed at the notion that he might not want to suit up for Latvia at this summer’s EuroBasket 2025 tournament. Porzingis said his desire to play for Latvia has never been in question.
“Whether I want to play for the national team or not, it’s a silly question. The past few summers didn’t work out because I was injured. I’ve never refused the national team. This summer, I’ll be there. Health is the main thing, and then everything else will follow,” Porzingis said.
The veteran center hasn’t suited up for Latvia since 2021. Porzingis missed the 2023 FIBA World Cup due to injury, and Latvia did not qualify for the 2024 Olympics.
EuroBasket 2025 runs from August 27 through September 14. Games will be hosted in Cyprus, Finland, Latvia and Poland.
Host Latvia is a part of Group A, which includes Czechia, Estonia, Portugal, Serbia and Turkiye.
