Kevin Garnett’s peers share tales of their time on the court with him

August 6, 2024 by Celtics Wire

Hall of Fame Boston Celtics big man Kevin Garnett was among the most intense, winning-obsessed, loyal, and single-minded player of the game of basketball his peers could recall encountering over the course of their careers in the NBA.

So it should come as no surprise that his opponents and teammates hold The Big Ticket in the highest regard and had plenty of tales to tell about their time playing with KG in his time with the Celtics. From the season of his arrival and winning Banner 17 to the many near-misses after, the storied franchise put together a tribute of sorts ahead of Garnett’s jersey retirement ceremony. In it, his peers shared stories of what it was like to play in his presence.

Check it out for yourself in the clip embedded below to hear some pretty cool accounts by many a familiar face from that era of Celtics basketball as we all reminisce in honor of KG’s big day.
