Jrue Holiday Hopes To Return To Celtics Next Season

May 21, 2025 by Real GM

Boston Celtics guard Jrue Holiday said he feels like the team’s window to win is still open, despite losing in the second round to the New York Knicks. Holiday called it a “missed opportunity” for Boston to defend their title, while also saying he hopes to return to the Celtics next season.

Holiday has been rumored to be a player Boston could look to trade this upcoming offseason, as the team looks to relieve some of their tax and apron burdens. Holiday is owed $32.4 million for the 2025-26 season and $104.4 million through 2027-28.

The soon-to-be 35-year-old guard is expected to draw interest from contenders around the NBA. In recent years, Holiday has helped both the Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks to get over the top to win the NBA Finals.

Boston could be in a position to reset the roster, as Jayson Tatum will miss most, if not all, of next season. The Celtics could take that as an opportunity to get their tax situation in a better place moving forward. Many have speculated that Holiday, along with Kristaps Porzingis, Sam Hauser and potentially Jaylen Brown could be on the move this offseason.
