Here’s an interesting way the Celtics used Luke Kornet to get Derrick White a layup by screening for Jayson Tatum to make, essentially, a sacrificial cut. C’s took advantage of how they were playing Kornet, a non-threat from 3, taking advantage of Orlando not switching this. pic.x.com/RLVa2YSP3p – 3:50 PM

Watching #CelticsCity finale & it made me think of my 5 favorite moments, in no order, covering the team…
1. Winning G7 at MIA in ‘22
2. Tatum saving season in MIL ‘22
3. White’s put back in G6 ‘23
4. G5 6-17-24
5. Believe it or not, that loss at MSG that changed the ‘22 season – 9:59 PM

More on this storyline

If there’s another X-factor that Tatum believes shouldn’t be overlooked in assessing the Celtics’ title chances, it’s head coach Joe Mazzulla. “He’s the best coach in the NBA, even though he’ll never admit that,” Tatum says. Mazzulla’s brilliance as a play caller is sometimes overshadowed by his habit of dropping unintentionally hilarious one-liners in interviews, which Tatum admits the locker room gets a kick out of. “We laugh [about it],” he says. “Like, we love to watch his press conferences.” I ask Tatum about his favorite thing Mazzulla has ever said to him. “He always tells me that he loves me,” he shares. “He’ll say it on practice days or in the middle of a game during a timeout. It’ll be the third quarter of a playoff game, a very intense atmosphere, and he’ll say ‘Just want you to know I love you, man.’” -via GQ.com / April 29, 2025
Bobby Manning: Tatum on the Paolo foul: “Nothing serious. Just a bunch of men out there in a competitive environment … showing passion … got a lot of respect for coach Mosley and what he’s done with that group.” -via Twitter @RealBobManning / April 28, 2025
Celtics Stats: Jayson Tatum is the first player in NBA playoff history to record back-to-back games of 35+ points and 12+ free-throw attempts without a miss. -via Twitter / April 27, 2025
