Championship parades aren’t particularly known for featuring heartwarming gestures, but Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown proved on Friday that he’s all class.

As the Celtics were driving around the city, Brown pulled out a No. 5 Terrence Clarke jersey. A photo of this moment went viral on social media

Clarke, a McDonald’s All-American and Boston native, played college basketball at Kentucky. He declared for the NBA Draft after one season with the Wildcats.

On April 22, 2021, Clarke was involved in a fatal traffic collision. The former Kentucky star completed a workout with his former teammate Brandon Boston Jr. and was on his way home when the accident happened.

The NBA honored Clarke during the 2021 draft by making him a ceremonial pick.

Brown had a close bond with Clarke, which is why he went out of his way to honor him at the parade on Friday.

This is the second time this year that Brown has honored Clarke on a national stage. He wore the late guard’s high school jersey during the NBA Slam Dunk Contest this past February.

Brown certainly made Clarke proud this year, winning NBA Finals MVP and solidifying himself as one of the best players in the game.
