Jamal Murray Makes Opinion On Marcus Smart Trade Very Clear

Earlier this week, longtime Boston Celtic Marcus Smart was sent to Memphis in a three-team trade with the Grizzlies and Wizards.

Smart had been with the Celtics organization since he was drafted by the team with the No. 6 overall pick in 2014, making him the longest tenured player on the roster. During his time with the franchise, he embodied all things Boston and became a fan-favorite with his gritty play.

On Friday morning, Denver Nuggets point guard Jamal Murray shared his thoughts on this trade.

“Hope they show love to Marcus Smart in Boston. Not many play as hard as he do,” he wrote.

Smart was reportedly “shocked” by the news of his trade. “Marcus loves Boston. He thought he was going to retire there. He wanted to retire there,” a source told Adam Himmelsbach of the Boston Globe.

Through 61 games this past season, Smart averaged 11.5 points and 6.3 assists per game — shooting 41.5% from the field and 33.6% from behind the three-point arc.
