Former Boston Celtics big man and current Celtics broadcaster for NBC Sports Boston Brian Scalabrine was recently credited by top 2025 NBA draft prospect Cooper Flagg for giving the future Blue Devil a confidence boost earlier in his career as a prospect.
Speaking to HoopsHype’s Sam Yip, Flagg opened up about Scal’s impact on him as a younger, developing prospect. ” I definitely think he had a big impact on me and influenced some decisions. Because he knows what it takes, and at the time we didn’t know. We had some doubts, and I think he filled me with confidence.”
“He’s seen a lot of people, a lot of prospects,” added Flagg. “He’s been in the league.”

“So he knows what it takes to get there, and he instilled that kind of confidence in me,” explained the future Duke wing.
“It was really the first person from afar just telling me and pushing me forward and really just giving me that confidence.”
