The offseason NBA blockbuster trade rumor mill is again in full swing with rumbles that Washington Wizards star Bradley Beal may decide to request a trade making the rounds, and the popular trade target for fans of the Boston Celtics may soon make up his mind on that front according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
“Beal has been seriously mulling his future in recent weeks, and at times has been very much on the fence about whether or not he wants to remain with the Wizards,” writes Charania. “The All-NBA guard is expected to use the weekend to continue giving his career some thought and could arrive at a decision during the upcoming week.”
The Athletic NBA insider notes the importance of the 2021 NBA draft to any such trade request, though for the Celtics with only their second-round pick in play, that event matters perhaps less than most.

Still, such a pursuit by Boston seems unlikely given it’d almost certainly require including star wing Jaylen Brown and draft assets for what would likely end up being a lateral move at best.
The possibility of an Anthony Davis-like trade demand to a limited range of teams potentially favoring the Celtics due to Beal’s friendship with star Boston forward Jayson Tatum of course remains a possibility, but for the present at least does not seem to be a factor under consideration.
