Celtics team reporters deem Jayson Tatum's 60-point outing 2020-21 Game of the Year

Team-specific awards for the Boston Celtics‘ outstanding performances of the 2020-21 NBA season continue to be awarded by Celtics.com’s two-man panel of embedded reporters, with Marc D’Amico and Taylor Snow handing out team MVP, Sixth Man, Sharpshooter and Defensive Player of the Year honors already.

Added to that mix in this week’s internal awards is the Game of the Year, which took place on April 30, 2021 against the San Antonio Spurs at TD Garden. “There are great games, and then there are instant classics,” writes D’Amico of the 32-point comeback win, the implication being the game that saw All-Star forward Jayson Tatum tie franchise icon Larry Bird’s 60-point scoring record is one of the latter.

As the Celtics reporter notes, it is incredibly rare to see 32-point comebacks and 60-point performances as well, with this tilt having both.
