Jayson Tatum suffered a right leg injury in the fourth quarter of the Boston Celtics’ Game 4 loss to the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference Semifinals. While there has been rampant speculation that the injury could be related to Tatum’s Achilles, details about an initial diagnosis have been scarce.
“The Boston Celtics are bracing for the worst around Jayson Tatum and that right foot,” said Shams Charania on Sports Center on Tuesday afternoon. “He underwent an MRI today in New York City. The Celtics, since last night, have been expecting a severe injury for Tatum.”
Tatum was carried off the floor and then spotted in a wheelchair in the tunnel to the locker room.
Tatum has been one of the NBA’s most durable superstars considering his games played in both the regular season and playoffs since entering the league at the age of 19 in 2017.
