If you notice a new face on the Boston Celtics’ Las Vegas Summer League roster as they take on the Vegas Denver Nuggets, your eyes are not deceiving you. Per the team, the Summer Celtics have added recently-acquired big man Bruno Fernando to their Sin City summer league squad.
Fernando was part of the trade that sent veteran center Tristan Thompson to the Sacramento Kings this week as part of a three-team deal that brought back point guard Kris Dunn and the Luanda, Angola native from the Atlanta Hawks. And while the Maryland product has played for two seasons already in the NBA, he has yet to click as quality role player at that level, so it makes sense to give him some run in Nevada.
With career averages of 3.3 points and 3.1 rebounds per game over 10.6 minutes per contest and the rudiments of a passing game, Fernando could prove a helpful option off the bench if he can stay on the floor.
In search of a point guard to replace the departed Kemba Walker, the Boston Celtics apparently are pursuing free agent Dennis Schroeder. https://t.co/SwWajcXZYY

With the team also reportedly exploring potential trade interest for both he and Dunn as well, it could be that Boston is also trying to drum up a little interest in the former Terrapin around the league.
