The Boston Celtics are continuing to be active in trade talks as they are evaluating their options on moving Anfernee Simons to another team after acquiring him from the Portland Trail Blazers as part of the Jrue Holiday deal. Simons, who is represented by Bill Duffy, is on an expiring contract worth $27.7 million. “I have talked to other teams who have said they are actively trying to trade Anfernee Simons,” said Brian Windhorst on Wednesday’s Hoop Collective Podcast. “Whether they can or not is another [thing].”

More on this storyline
Bobby Manning: Brad Stevens said Anfernee Simons’ shooting is elite and he’s getting better. Notes Georges Niang’s winning and that “he’s a pain to play against, which I admire.” -via Twitter @RealBobManning / July 8, 2025
Sean Highkin: The Anfernee Simons-Jrue Holiday trade is now official, without the previously reported second-round picks going from Portland to Boston. The final deal is a straight 1-for-1 player swap. -via Bluesky / July 7, 2025
If there is any further trade activity to monitor in Boston, league sources say that Anfernee Simons is a possible re-trade candidate after the Celtics acquired the high-scoring guard from Portland in the Holiday deal. By contrast I haven’t heard any credible buzz about Sam Hauser’s inclusion in serious trade conversations. -via marcstein.substack.com / June 28, 2025
