“I’ll repeat it over and over and over, we need to regain our flexibility,” Stevens said. “We need to maximize assets in return, and we need to regain some flexibility here. And whatever that means from a final cost standpoint is what it means. But I think the biggest thing is, as you look at the rest of the team and what we’re trying to do, there is no question our priorities would be to bring Al and Luke back. Those guys are huge parts of this organization. They’re going to have, I’m sure, plenty of options all over the place, and that’s well-deserved, but I think that would be a priority. At the same time, I don’t want to put pressure on them. It’s their call ultimately. But, yeah, we would love to have those guys back.”

The Celtics want to add Real Madrid’s Hugo Gonzalez for the next season, after drafting him
“He’s obviously been on everybody’s radar for a long time, and then followed his year with a great Real Madrid organization and team closely” – Brad Stevens

Brad Stevens & Blazers GM Joe Cronin partnered on 3 trades over the past 2+ years. The original Holiday trade for Brogdon, Rob & 2 firsts. The Dalano Banton trade which proved helpful for Portland in ‘23-‘24. And now the Holiday-Simons deal. – 1:28 AM

Brad Stevens was, in my opinion, a top-three coach in the NBA for basically his entire Celtics tenure.
And I’m pretty sure he’s somehow an even better GM. – 12:20 AM

First domino falls for the Celtics.
After all the speculation that the Celtics would have to attach picks to get off Jrue’s money, Brad Stevens gets back two picks in the deal.
Still work to be done to get off the second apron. – 11:55 PM

More on this storyline
Jay King: Brad Stevens stressed he would like to bring back Al Horford and Luke Kornet. He called that a Celtics priority. Also said they will prioritize flexibility. Could that mean the Celtics keep making salary cuts to get under the luxury tax? I would guess they try to do that, if they can do it in a smart way. -via x.com / June 26, 2025
Jordan Walsh on Al Horford: “I mean, he’s really smart. He has a lot of like random general knowledge about stuff. Like we do this trivia every day, game days, and he’s like killing it, like every time. He’s always—like every month we have a ranking—he’s always the top. Like he just has—his random knowledge of the most random stuff is crazy. So it’s fun to get—just get random tidbits from him. It’s hilarious.” -via YouTube / June 25, 2025
A couple of other names to consider with the taxpayer midlevel exception are Spencer Dinwiddie, Trey Lyles and Al Horford. As for minimum players, I wouldn’t be shocked if the Knicks brought back Delon Wright and/or Landry Shamet. -via New York Times / June 17, 2025
