Boston Celtics Guard Gives Message About Injury

The Boston Celtics once again finished the season as one of the best teams in the league. With a 61-21 record, they earned the No. 2 seed in the East. Additionally, they had the third-best record in the NBA, only behind the Oklahoma City Thunder and Cleveland Cavaliers. As the reigning champions, the Celtics have one specific goal in mind–to repeat as champions. If they do this, they will be the first NBA team since the 2017-18 Golden State Warriors to do so. However, things could get difficult.

Recently, ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne reported that Celtics star Jaylen Brown received injections in his knee for pain management. On the surface, this is a concerning injury update. However, Celtics guard Jrue Holiday recently gave his input on Brown’s injury, and it should put a lot of Celtics fans’ minds at ease.

Jrue Holiday with a positive update on Jaylen Brown from practice today:

“He looked good to me. JB is going to be JB in terms of not showing weakness — everything is about not showing weakness, for him.”

“Nobody is worried about him.”

The Boston Celtics’ Outlook With Jaylen Brown’s Injury

Though the Celtics still do not know who they will face in the first round of the playoffs, they at least know their first game will be on Sunday. By that point, it will have been exactly a week since the Celtics’ last game. Furthermore, since Brown missed each of Boston’s last three games, he will be approaching two weeks since the last time he played. Hopefully for Brown and the Celtics, this is enough time for him to get as close to 100% as possible. Additionally, Celtics teammate Kristaps Porzingis recently shared this exact same sentiment.

“He’s a tough dude,” Porzingis said. “He always preaches his warrior mindset. He lives by it. But to what extent do we need that right now? Maybe he needs to take care of it and make sure he’s going to be ready for the most important moment. I think we need to encourage him to make sure he does everything he needs to prepare to get it healthy and to prepare for what’s going to come.”

The Last Word

Regardless of Brown’s injury, the Celtics are in a great spot. They ranked as one of the best teams on both sides of the ball in the regular season. Furthermore, they are a nightmare matchup for every team in the playoffs. They are the reigning champions and remain the team to beat in the NBA.
