Boston Celtics small forward Grant Williams has been elected as a vice president of the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) per multiple reports, taking the position most recently held by Portland Trail Blazers veteran shooting guard CJ McCollum after his elevation to become the NBPA’s new president.
Williams will serve in McCollum’s position now that the Blazers star has taken up the mantle held by the Phoenix Suns star for the last eight years in the players union, becoming the second active Celtics player service as a vice president with All-Star forward Jaylen Brown currently serving as a vice president as well.
“Since entering the league, I have wanted to be involved in the and contribute to the important decisions that impact our lives as players both on and off the court,” wrote the Tennessee product on Twitter after news broke of his election.
Since entering the league, I have wanted to be involved in the and contribute to the important decisions that impact our lives as players both on and off the court. I am honored to be selected by my peers for this position and excited to join the NBPA Executive Committee.
