Ben Simmons declined the New York Knicks’ offer of a one-year contract, sources tell Marc Stein. The Knicks are limited to offering only minimum contracts and Simmons entered the offseason with hopes of finding a contract above the minimum.
The Knicks and Boston Celtics were the two teams to express the most serious interest in signing Simmons this offseason.
Bernie Lee recently notified the NBPA that he was no longer representing Simmons. Simmons spent last season with the Brooklyn Nets and then the Los Angeles Clippers upon his buyout.
In 51 games last season, Simmons averaged 5.0 points, 4.7 rebounds and 5.6 assists in 22.0 minutes.
