Week 5 Fantasy Hockey Streamers to Add to Your Lineup

November 4, 2024 by Last Word On Hockey

Week 4 of the NHL season has come to an end, meaning it’s time to take a look at the best Week 5 fantasy hockey streamers. Four teams play four games this week, with Nashville, Los Angeles, Minnesota, and New Jersey all having the best schedules. Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday are heavy days this week, so when planning out your streamers, try to avoid those days unless you know you can fit someone into your lineup. Let’s take a deeper dive into some of the best fantasy hockey streamers to add in Week 5.

Alex Laferriere, LW/RW – Los Angeles Kings

Alex Laferriere has found a lot of success in the start of his second NHL season. In 12 games played, Laferriere has put up eight goals and 11 points. Along with this, he also delivered steady peripheral coverage, with 29 shots on goal and 24 hits.

He only has one power play point, but he is getting top unit minutes, averaging 3:17 of ice time per game on the man advantage. Laferriere is currently slotted on the third line with Quinton Byfield and Warren Foegele. If he keeps up his play, however, we could see an increase in ice time from Laferriere. In his last game against Chicago, Laferriere recorded a season high 18:23 TOI.

At 55% rostered on Fantrax, his availability and stat coverage makes him one of the best Week 5 fantasy hockey streamers.

Stefan Noesen, LW/RW – New Jersey Devils

In Week 3, we mentioned Stefan Noesen as a player to stream into your lineup. Now heading into Week 5 where the New Jersey Devils play four games, Noesen is once again a great streaming candidate.

Noesen is up to 12 points in 14 games, four of those coming on the power play where he continues to play on the first unit. It seems head coach Sheldon Keefe likes Noesen on that line over Timo Meier, giving Noesen a boost in fantasy value.

In addition to his point production, Noesen is a great stream in banger leagues. He is averaging 2.5 hits a game and has 21 SOG to this point in the season. Noesen is still widely available in leagues, being just over 50% rostered on Fantrax and under 35% on Yahoo. See if Noesen is available in your league this week and take advantage of the Devils’ schedule.

Marco Rossi, C – Minnesota Wild

After a rough bout with COVID-19 that affected his development, Marco Rossi is showing everyone this season why he was a high first round pick in 2020. The 23-year old Austrian is up to nine points in ten games, all of which coming in the last nine games.

Making the most of playing first line with superstar Kirill Kaprizov, Rossi has six even strength assists on the year and three goals. He is not playing first line power play yet, however, if his chemistry continues to grow with Kaprizov, he could be promoted at some point.

Rossi doesn’t provide much peripheral coverage, so don’t expect many hits or blocks from him as a streamer. The Wild have a great schedule this week, playing four games including matchups against Chicago, Anaheim, and San Jose. With that level of competition ahead of him, Rossi could put up great numbers and is worth a stream for the week.

Jeremy Lauzon, D – Nashville Predators

2015 second-round pick Jeremy Lauzon became fantasy hockey relevant last season in banger leagues. Recording triple digit peripherals, including 103 SOG, 388 hits, 98 PIM, and 111 blocks, he quickly became a valuable streamer option in deep leagues.

So far this season, he has stayed consistent to what fantasy managers now expect from him. In 11 games played, Lauzon 58 hits, 13 blocks, and ten SOG. Averaging over 18 minutes TOI on a second pairing role, Lauzon won’t be an offensive contributor on your fantasy team. However, his peripheral coverage gives him a safe floor and a good add in category leagues. Any points picked up will be a bonus to the managers who add Lauzon for Nashville’s four-game schedule in Week 5.

Honourable Mentions: Jake Middleton – MIN, Ryan Hartman – MIN, Dawson Mercer – NJ, Simon Edvinsson – DET, Tom Wilson – WSH, Connor McMichael – WSH, Troy Terry – ANA
