The goaltender took to social media (see post above) to announce his decision.

This will be the second time Ingram has joined the program. Ingram first joined it in 2021 when he was with the Nashville Predators. He has since spoken publicly about his un-diagnosed obsessive-compulsive disorder that led him to drink to cope with anxiety and his subsequent entrance into the program.

Last season, Ingram won the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy last season for perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey after establishing himself as a full-time NHL player.

This season, Ingram has struggled between the pipes for a team looking to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs in their first season in Utah.

Ingram lost his mother to breast cancer in December. The goaltender has struggled following her passing.

Purpose of the Program

The player assistance program is offered to players for a variety of issues, such as alcohol or drug abuse, mental health, sleeping problems or a gambling addiction. Confidentiality is guaranteed for players and their family to protect their privacy. An announcement is made only if a player will be unavailable to his team during the season.

Ingram is the second player this season to enter the program. Jack Campbell entered shortly before Opening Night.

Yes, Connor, You Will Be Back

Anyone who is able to recognize they need help and go out and seek it deserve praise for their bravery and awareness. While these past few months have not been easy ones for Ingram, he has taken the correct steps to recovery.

In his social media post, Ingram stated he will play in the NHL again. We look forward to the day Ingram enters the crease once again. Until then, take care of yourself, Connor. The hockey community is behind you.
