Minnesota Wild Give Updated Timeline on Kirill Kaprizov Injury

Kaprizov had surgery in late January to hopefully fix a lower-body ailment. He was initially expected to be out for a minimum of four weeks. However, Guerin expects the superstar forward to be out longer than that when he talked to KFAN.

The 27-year-old was putting together a strong season with the team, Kaprizov totaled 23 goals and 29 assists for 52 points in 37 games so far in 2024-25. He has a Corsi of 57.6 and a relative Corsi of 13.7.

The Novokuznetsk, Russia native has 183 goals and 199 assists for 382 points in 315 career games. Minnesota originally drafted him in the fifth round, 135th overall of the 2015 NHL Draft.

Kaprizov has burst on the scene since coming over from the KHL. The forward lit up the top Russian league with CSKA Moscow and won the Calder Trophy for the NHL’s top rookie in 2021.

What It Means

Guerin mentioned that Karpizov was putting together a Hart Trophy caliber season before going down to injury. Kaprizov got off to a fast start and was a reason the Wild got off to such a fast start.

Minnesota is still in position to return to the Stanley Cup Playoffs. However, not having a weapon like Kaprizoc really hampers the Wild’s offence. This team does have some good players, but not having Kaprizov still leaves a bit of a whole in the lineup.

Kaprizov has scored 40-plus goals for the last three seasons and was well on his way to doing that again before the injury. Wild fans hope that Kaprizov can return soon and give them that push for the club to make a deep post-season run.
