Rugged Forward Signs New Contract

July 4, 2025 by Last Word On Hockey

A rugged veteran forward has signed a new contract. News emerged that Tanner Jeannot has signed with the Boston Bruins. This deal is for five years and $3.4 million. The agreement runs through the end of the 2029-30 season.

Jeannot has played for the Nashville Predators, Tampa Bay Lightning and Los Angeles Kings over his five-year NHL career. The 28-year-old had seven goals and six assist for 13 points in 67 games last campaign. He had an average ice time of 11 minutes and one second, which was down from his average career totals. The Estevan, Saskatchewan native had a Corsi for of 50.0 and a relative Corsi of -3.3.

Jeannot has 49 goals and 44 assists and 93 points in 294 career games. The forward was signed by the Predators after going undrafted in 2018. He played for the Moose Jaw Warriors of the Western Hockey League.

The winger had a great rookie season of 24 goals in the 2021-22 season. However, he was not a finalist for the Calder Trophy as the league’s top rookie. Jeannot was part of a massive trade to Tampa. However, he’s yet to recover the form he had in Nashville.

What It Means

Jeannot has struggled to find his scoring touch since being traded. He’s not even scored in double digits since the deal occurred.

The veteran is still throwing his weight around and is willing to drop the gloves. However, the Lightning paid a massive price to acquire him around the 2023 trade deadline.

This deal is a chance for Jeannot to get a reset and to see if he can contribute to a roster. It’s been a struggle the last few seasons, but he could still be helpful in the bottom part of a forward group. He may not score 20-plus goals, but he could help a team.
