Game notes

  • The Boston Bruins look to get back on track today and there no better time to do it then having the Montreal Canadiens here for the Centennial Game!
  • The game will mark 100 years since the Bruins first game back in Dec. 1, 1924 and culminate the year-long celebration of Centennial festivities. Get ready for a pregame ceremony at 3 p.m. (be in seats at 2:45 p.m. if you are there) — symbolic of the time the game started back in 1924.
  • The Bruins last saw the Canadiens on opening night. The B’s won that game, 6-4, on Oct. 10. Elias Lindholm and Cole Koepke each had three points in the win. Brendan Gallagher scored two goals for Montreal in the game.
  • Montreal is 3-2-0 in their last five games. They last played on Saturday, falling 6-2 to the Vegas Golden Knights.
  • For Montreal, Caufield has five points in the last five games with two goals and three assists.
  • Good news! The Bruins power play is no longer dead last. It’s now 31st at 12%…It’s really not good news, obviously, as the B’s went 0 for 3 last game and could really some offensive help from special teams right about now.
  • And again, it’s a chance for the Bruins’ offense to get something, anything, going against the Canadiens who have a goals against/games played average of 3.74 goals which is only slightly better than what the Pittsburgh Penguins came into town with the other day. But again, the Bruins only scored one goal on Saturday with all of that said…
  • Don’t know what’s in the water at home, but the Bruins haven’t score a third period goal in 13 games. During that time, they are 5-6-2. Three of those wins were in overtime, but two of those were times their opponents came back in the third period to force OT.
  • See ya this afternoon!
