Game notes

  • Well, it’s a quick turnaround for the Boston Bruins tonight as they are back home to complete a back-to-back against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
  • Last night? The Bruins will want to quickly forget about it after dropping 6-2 in the two’s second meeting of the season. In the game, Columbus scored three power-play goals and saw two goal nights from Monahan and Dmitri Voronkov. Pavel Zacha picked up the Bruins’ first tally to tie the game, but then the Blue Jackets scored five straight goals. Charlie Coyle had seven shots on net last night, registering one goal. Marchenko and Voronkov each had three points in the win for their team while Werenski picked up four assists.
  • “Bad line changes. They exploited us there,” Interim head coach Joe Sacco said yesterday following the loss. The Bruins will look to clean up their second-period play as well as their game management which led Columbus to capitalize when they did.
  • The Bruins haven’t been able to beat the Blue Jackets yet this season. They are 0-2-0 against Columbus heading into this final season-series game. The first loss was the 5-1 decision which led to Jim Montgomery’s firing.
  • Brad Marchand enters tonight’s game on an 11-game point streak. He picked up an assist on Coyle’s goal — which also put Coyle on a three-game goal streak.
  • After leaving Monday’s game, David Pastrnak logged 18:11 TOI with six shots in yesterday’s loss.
  • For Columbus, Werenski now has seven assists in his last two games. Voronkov is on a six-game point streak with five goals and five assists. Marchenko is on a seven-game point streak with four goals and nine assists.
  • See ya tonight!
