The Boston Bruins have added a veteran forward to their roster. Sean Kuraly has agreed to a two-year contract worth $1.85 million a season.

Last season with the Columbus Blue Jackets, Kuraly played in all 82 games, scoring 6 goals and recording 11 assists for 17 points. Kuraly has spent the last four seasons with the Blue Jackets after starting his career with five seasons with the Bruins.

In his nine-year career, Kuraly has played in 562 games. He has scored 64 goals and recorded 89 assists for a total of 153 points. His best season came in 2021-22, when he scored 14 goals and recorded 30 points.

Ohio Native Coming Off Emotional Season in Columbus

For Kuraly and the Blue Jackets, the 2024-25 season anything but normal. The organization tragically lost Johnny Gaudreau prior to the start of training camp. In an emotional season dedicated to Johnny and his brother, Matthew, the Blue Jackets remained into the Stanley Cup Playoff race until the last days of the season. While the Blue Jackets fell short of the playoffs, their inspirational season stands out to many.

Playoff Experience

Kuraly does bring some playoff experience to his new team. Kuraly has reached the playoffs six times in his career, all with the Bruins.

His best postseason came in 2019, when the Bruins reached the Stanley Cup Final. In 20 playoff games, Kuraly scored four goals and recorded six assists for ten points. Furthermore, the forward scored the game-winning goal in Game 1 of the Final.

Role With New Team

Kuraly will likely play on the bottom-six lines for his new team. However, he can play up on the second line when needed.

Despite low offensive totals, Kuraly is capable of providing a spark on offence. If the Bruins find a way into the playoffs and/or go on a playoff run, do not be surprised to see some clutch goals from the Ohio native. He does not score often, but when he does, he makes it count.
