NHL Predictions Saturday, February 28th with Boston Bruins vs Philadelphia Flyers

February 28, 2026 by Last Word On Hockey

Welcome to another NHL Predictions. Each day, here at Last Word On Hockey, we provide in-depth analysis, insights, and predictions for NHL games. For this Saturday afternoon edition, we take a look at the Boston Bruins taking on the Philadelphia Flyers.

NHL Predictions February 28th Boston Bruins vs Philadelphia Flyers

Season Series 2025-26: Boston 1-0-0, Philadelphia 0-1-0

Time: 3:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST)

How to Watch: ABC, TVAS, ESPN+, SN+, TVAS+

Location: Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Bruins’ Storylines

The Bruins had to outlast the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday in their return from the break, securing a 4-2 win. Points are especially critical for Boston, as they hold the final Stanley Cup Playoff Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.

The Bruins have certainly made the most of their recent play in an effort to remain in the playoff picture. They have points in eight straight games, and a 6-1-3 record in the last 10 games. With the standings so tight, a four-point lead is hardly secure, but the Bruins are in the driver’s seat at the moment.

Morgan Geekie has been leading the way in goals with 33, following up a breakout season with even more dominance. David Pastrnak continues to be the leader in points with 72. And with the blue line and net anchored by gold medalists Charlie McAvoy and Jeremy Swayman, the Bruins still have the core to be a playoff team.

Flyers’ Storylines

The Flyers appeared well on their way to a 14th loss in the last 17 games, but managed a comeback win over the New York Rangers on Thursday night. Matvei Michkov took centre stage in this game, scoring the first goal for the Flyers on the power play, then capping off the comeback with an overtime goal.

Getting Michkov going in the final two months of the season is crucial. He’s a cornerstone piece to the Flyers’ rebuilding efforts and a strong finish to an otherwise tumultuous season would at least restore some confidence in his abilities.

Prediction and Best Bets

Prediction: Bruins 4, Flyers 1

Both teams are in need of points to continue their playoff push. The Flyers are far more desperate, facing a steep climb up the standings and running out of time. The Bruins, holding a wild card spot, can put some distance on the rest of the field by continuing their recent success. We like the Bruins to continue their hot streak and take care of business in Philadelphia.

For best bets for the Bruins, we like Geekie to remain hot and score a goal. Geekie has points in nine-straight games, including eight goals in that time.

For the Flyers, take Michkov to pick up where he left off with an anytime goal. Michkov scored twice, including the overtime winner against the Rangers on Thursday.
