NHL Predictions: January 29th Philadelphia Flyers vs Boston Bruins

January 30, 2026 by Last Word On Hockey

Welcome to another NHL Predictions. Each day, here at Last Word On Hockey, we provide in-depth analysis, insights, and predictions for NHL games. For this edition, we take a look at the Philadelphia Flyers facing the Boston Bruins.

NHL Predictions January 29th Philadelphia Flyers vs Boston Bruins

Season Series 2025-26: First meeting (Philadelphia: 1-1-1, Boston: 2-1-0 in 2024-25)

Time: 7 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST)

How to Watch: NBC Sports Philadelphia+, NESN, ESPN+, SNE, SN+

Location: TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts

Flyers’ Storylines

Just when it appeared the Flyers may complete a huge comeback in Columbus, they gave up a late goal and lost for the ninth time in 11 games. The 2-7-2 record since the halfway point of the season has pushed them six points out of a playoff spot and into a logjam of teams that may spend more time vying for lottery position than playoff spots.

Travis Konecny was the star of the show on Wednesday, scoring a hat trick to reach the 20-goal mark. He did block a shot off his foot late in the second period, however, and may not be available for Thursday’s game in Boston. That would be a huge loss, since Konecny has largely powered scoring for the past month.

Bruins’ Storylines

The Bruins are surging up the standings with 10 wins this month and points in 10 of the last 11 games. Their most recent came on Tuesday night, securing an overtime win over Nashville.

David Pastrnak continues to be at the forefront of production. He leads the team with 69 points. However, for goal-scoring, it’s been Morgan Geekie stealing the show. Geekie reached the 30-goal mark on Tuesday for a second straight season.

It’s an especially big game for the Bruins, who can take advantage of a floundering Flyers team on a back-to-back. The Bruins are locked in a three-way tie for third place in the Atlantic Division, so every point holds significance. This game also serves as a send-off of sorts. The next time the Bruins take the ice after Thursday’s game against Philadelphia will be outdoors in the Stadium Series in Tampa Bay.

Prediction and Best Bets

The Flyers had to pour a lot into tying Wednesday’s game in Columbus, but considering that the player who scored all three goals may be out of the lineup and the Flyers will likely turn to backup Samuel Ersson instead of Daniel Vladar, it will require the rest of the roster to step up. That bodes well for the Bruins, who have been rolling of late. Boston appears to be the easy pick here.

Prediction: Bruins 5, Flyers 1

Best Bets

For best bets for the Flyers, take Travis Sanheim to record a point. Sanheim has good numbers in Boston and has been among the Flyers’ defensive leaders all season.

For the Bruins, take David Pastrnak for an anytime goal. The noted Flyers killer should be at it again, especially given his recent hot streak.
