Welcome back to NHL Predictions. Each day, Last Word on Hockey takes a look at the games that are scheduled and offers insight and analysis to help predict who will be victorious in head-to-head matchups. In today’s round of NHL Predictions, we are looking at the game between the Vancouver Canucks vs Montreal Canadiens. Be sure to check out more NHL Predictions as the 2024-25 season continues.

NHL Predictions

Washington Capitals vs Buffalo Sabres

Head-to-Head: Capitals 1-0 Sabres

Time: 7 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST)

TV: Monument Sports Network; MSG Buffalo; NHL Network

We open NHL predictions with the Washington Capitals taking on the Buffalo Sabres. Charlie Lindgren is the expected starter for Washington, but always check social media before locking in a daily fantasy starter. Alex Ovechkin has picked up where he left off with 19 goals and 11 assists for the Capitals.

Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen is the projected starter for the Sabres, who are 3-6-1 in the last 10. Buffalo has also dropped three consecutive games heading into this one. Alex Tuch been a bright spot as of late with four goals over the last 10 games.

Washington has been better with Ovechkin back in the lineup and should win.

Prediction: Capitals win 4-2.

Vancouver Canucks vs Montreal Canadiens

Time: 7:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST)

TV: Amazon Prime (Canada); ESPN+

We have our featured game of NHL predictions between the Canucks and the Canadiens. Vancouver is expected to go with >Kevin Lankinen in between the pipes. The Canucks are 3-4-3 in the last 10 and are trying to get back on track. Jake DeBrusk has gotten on track with 16 goals and 12 assists for the Canucks.

Montreal has been a welcome surprise as of late and is 7-3 in the last 10 games. Sam Montembeault is projected to get the start for the Habs in this game. Montreal captain Nick Suzuki has scored 11 goals with 27 assists this season.

These game are hard to pick, but Montreal gets the victory.

Prediction: Canadiens win 4-3.

Florida Panthers vs Colorado Avalanche

Head-to-Head: Panthers 0-1 Avalanche

Time: 9 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST)

TV: Altitude; Scripps Florida; ESPN+

We have a great matchup here between the Florida Panthers and Colorado Avalanche. Florida is likely to go with Sergei Bobrovsky in the blue paint for this one. The Cats are 6-4 in the last 10 games heading into this game. Matthew Tkachuk has been great as of late with four goals and two assists over the last 10 games.

Mackenzie Blackwood is the expected starter for Colorado, which is 7-2-1 in the last 10 games. However, the Avs are coming off a loss prior to this game. Nathan MacKinnon has been playing well all season with 14 goals and 51 assists for the Avalanche.

Both teams are likely contenders to win a Stanley Cup, but Colorado holds serve at home.

Prediction: Avalanche wins 4-2.

New Jersey Devils vs Seattle Kraken

Head-to-Head: Devils 1-0 Kraken

Time: 9 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST)

TV: MSG SN; KONG; KHN; ESPN+

Prediction: Devils win 5-2.

We wrap up NHL predictions with some prop bets. Let’s go to our featured game for the props of the night. On the Vancouver side, take Brock Boeser to score at any time at +145. For Montreal, take Lane Hutson to get the over on 0.5 points at -115. These odds are courtesy of BetMGM.
