NHL Predictions

Toronto Maple Leafs vs Florida Panthers

Series Head-to-Head: Maple Leafs 2-3 Panthers

Time: 7 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT)

TV: CBC, Sportsnet, TNT, TruTV, TVAS, Max

What a difference a week makes. Toronto seemed Toronto was still up 2-1 in the series against Florida despite an overtime-loss in Game. However, things have taken a dramatic turn. Florida is one game away from booking a date with the Carolina Hurricanes in the Eastern Final.

We take a look at Game 6 between the Maple Leafs and the Panthers and what could be a potentially series-clinching game for the defending champions. Florida is looking put Toronto out of its misery, while the Leafs try to overturn years worth of bad mojo.

This edition of NHL predictions deals with the stats and storylines heading into this all-important Game 6 in Sunrise.

The Maple Leafs Story

It’s been a rough go the last three games for Toronto. Joseph Woll will get the start once again despite getting chased in Game 5. Anthony Stolarz won’t be with the team and Matt Murray will be the backup.

Auston Matthews has been ice cold, but needs to get going if the Leafs have any designs of forcing a Game 7. William Nylander has been one of the bright spots with 15 points and six goals for the Maple Leafs.

The Panthers Story

The Return of “Playoff Bob” in goalie Sergei Bobrovsky has guided the Panthers one game away from another trip to the Eastern Conference Final. Bobrovsky has been lights out in the last three games for Florida.

Depth scoring his been key for the Panthers in them overturning the series advantage. Sam Reinhart leads the team in points with 10, but a total of eight players have at least eight points for the Cats. Toronto can’t focus on one line and Florida will have the advantage of the last change at home.

Prediction

Momentum has clearly swung the way of the defending Stanley Cup champions. We’ve seen the Winnipeg Jets stave off elimination against the Dallas Stars, so teams can fight off elimination. However, the Leafs are in real trouble against Florida.

Prediction: Panthers win 4-1.

Prop Bets of the Night

We close out NHL predictions with some prop bets of the night. The over/under of tonight’s game is 5.5 and the play of Bobrovsky is one reason we like the under in this one. However, the Panthers’ explosive offence could make that a little tenuous.

As for individual props, go with Mitch Marner to get an assist in this game for Toronto, On the Florida side of things, take Brad Marchand to get a goal in this game.
