NHL Predictions: February 25th St. Louis Blues Vs. Seattle Kraken

February 25, 2025 by Last Word On Hockey

Welcome to another edition of NHL Predictions! Like all of you, Last Word On Hockey is glad to have NHL hockey back. We have 12 games on the schedule on Tuesday. Our prediction today looks at the prediction between the St. Louis Blues and Seattle Kraken.

NHL Predictions

St. Louis Blues vs. Seattle Kraken

Time: 8:00 P.M. Eastern Time

TV: FanDuel Sports Network Midwest, KONG

Head-to-Head: Blues Lead 1-0

The Blues and Kraken met in October to open the season. Furthermore, it was the first NHL game of the season in North America. Behind two goals from Jordan Kyrou, the Blue Note rallied from a 2-0 deficit and won 3-2.

Tuesday’s game will be the only game in the season series to take place in St. Louis. The third and final meeting will take place in Seattle in early April.

Blues Conclude Six-Game Home Stretch

The Blues will play their sixth-straight home game on Tuesday. The team played the first three games before the 4 Nations Face-Off. The home stretch continued over the weekend, where the Blues lost in a shootout on Saturday before a solid win on Sunday. Overall, the Blues are 2-1-2 during this home stretch.

After Tuesday, the Blues will play four teams in a row with a record well above .500. Furthermore, all of these teams should be considered Stanley Cup contenders. This will be a tough stretch of hockey, so the Blues need to take advantage of things on Tuesday and gain two points.

With the March 7th Trade Deadline less than two weeks away, some Blues players could be playing in their last game with the Blue Note. It is hard to imagine a Blues roster that does not include Brayden Schenn. However, it is possible the captain, among others, will be dealt to contenders.

Kraken Likely Sellers

While the Blues may not be sellers, the Kraken will likely choose to sell. Yanni Gourde and Jamie Oleksiak are the likely candidates to be traded. Both are members of the original Kraken team who also helped the team win their first playoff series. While it may be hard to part with these players, it is for the betterment of the team’s future to trade them.

The Kraken lost their last game, 4-1. After Tuesday’s game in St. Louis, the Kraken will return for two straight home games on Saturday.

Prediction

In the month of February, the Kraken have scored three goals or less five times in six games. Meanwhile, the Blues have, well, accomplished the same feat. However, the Blues have allowed three or more goals four times between the pipes. The Kraken have, well, also allowed three or more goals four times. Boy, trying to find a trend to make a prediction is not easy.

However, we are going to pick the Blues. The team’s goalie, Jordan Binnington, fresh off his 4 Nations performance, put on a strong showing on Sunday. Binnington is on a role, so we are picking the Blue Note.

Blues win, 5-1.

Prop Bets

The over/under is set at 5.5 goals. We are taking the over with six goals.

For anytime-scorers, we are taking forward Jaden Schwartz for the Kraken and defenceman Philip Broberg for the Blues. A former Blue, Schwartz leads the Kraken with 18 goals this season. Broberg, meanwhile, scored in the Blues season-opening win in Seattle, starting what has turned into a breakout season on a strong note.

If you come across any prop bets for Binnington, we suggest taking them. Binnington? It’s more like “Winnington!”
