Maybe. Maybe not.
Welcome to Friday, folks!
Unlike last Friday, when we at least had the Providence Bruins involved, this Friday, we’re fully in “playoff spectator” mode.
Fortunately, there is a Schadenfreude Special on tap for tonight, with the Maple Leafs limping into Florida to face the Panthers in Game 6 of their second-round series.
In case you missed it (or in case you just want to relive it), the Leafs got pasted by Florida in Game 5, losing 6-1 on home ice.
That loss has since inspired a variety of think-pieces on the softness, lack-of-greatness, weakness, etc. of the Leafs’ Core Four.
While Leafs fans can fairly point to a (probably) brighter present and future than we have here, at least we can take solace in knowing that this is not, in fact, their year.
(Yet, I guess. They could surprise everyone and make me look bad by coming ba — hahaha.)
Elsewhere, the Jets pushed their series against the Stars back to Dallas by virtue of a 3-0 home ice win, while the Hurricanes gentlemen’s swept aside the Capitals.
In addition, in more relevant business around these parts, Frank Servalli reports that former Oilers head coach Jay Woodcroft has emerged as a leading candidate for the B’s job.
There’s still plenty to be decided in that regard, so…stay tuned.
Lastly, if you’re an NBA fan, the Celtics will look to stave off inevitability against the New York Knicks tonight in Manhattan.
The “no repeat” seems like a foregone conclusion in light of the Jayson Tatum injury, but it would be fun to see the Celtics string this series along a little further.
Please, it can’t be time for nothing but Red Sox baseball yet. Spare us all.
Anyways, what’s on tap for this lovely Friday?
