Los Angeles Kings Acquire Andrei Kuzmenko Via Trade
Kuzmenko has played for the Vancouver Canucks, Calgary Flames and the Flyers over his three-year NHL career. The 29-year-old has six goals and 14 assists for 20 points in 44 games this season. He has a Corsi for of 50.4 and a relative Corsi of 4.0.
The Yakutsk, Russia native has 67 goals and 73 assists for 140 points in 197 career games. Kuzmenko signed an entry-level deal with the Canucks in June 2022 after a standout career in the KHL. He played for CSKA Moscow and SKA Saint Petersburg during his stint in Russia’s top league.
The veteran forward burst onto the scene in his rookie season with 39 goals in his first season in North America. However, he has yet to repeat that performance in on his other seasons in the league.
What it Means
Los Angeles adds a player that has a bit of offensive creativity. The Kings have played well at times this season, but know they need to finally get past the Edmonton Oilers in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Kuzmenko is very crafty and can fit into the middle-six of the Kings lineup. If Kuzmenko can regain some of his scoring touch, he could be a sneaky-good pick up at the trade deadline.
Philadelphia continues to reshape its roster ahead of the deadline. We could see other moves by the Flyers to stockpile assets. However, this is a chance to offload some of Kuzmenko’s salary in order to get a pick.
