The Boston Bruins drafted goaltender Reid Dyck in the sixth round of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. He spent the last five seasons with the Swift Current Broncos of the WHL. After failing to agree to an entry-level contract with the Bruins by June 1, Dyck became an unrestricted free agent.

Although Dyck has yet to land a contract with an NHL club, the 20-year-old netminder has been invited to the Utah Hockey Club’s rookie camp, the franchise announced Tuesday. The roster included 15 forwards, eight defensemen and three goaltenders.

Rookie Camp ready. 🙌

The Utah Hockey Club’s rookie camp will take place Sept. 11-16. The first two days will consist of on-and-off-ice workouts before the team travels to Los Angeles to participate in the Rookie Faceoff tournament hosted by the Los Angeles Kings at the Toyota Sports Performance Center in El Segundo, Calif. Utah will face the San Jose Sharks on Friday, Sept. 13 at 1 p.m. PT, the Kings on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. and the Vegas Golden Knights on Monday, Sept. 16 at 12:30 p.m.

Dyck played in 35 games for the Broncos in the 2023-24 season, posting a 2.70 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage with two shutouts. He finished the season with an overall record of 25-7-2. In the playoffs, Dyck gave up 30 goals in nine games for a 3.38 goals-against average and a .901 save percentage.

The Providence Bruins signed Dyck to an amateur tryout in April, but since the Bruins didn’t retain his rights following the postseason, Boston will enter the 2024-25 season with Jeremy Swayman, Joonas Korpisalo, Brandon Bussi, and Michael DiPietro as its goaltending core.
